About
Dr Kenan Kalaycı is an experimental economist and Senior Lecturer in Economics at The University of Queensland. His research sits at the intersection of behavioural economics and industrial organization, with a particular focus on consumer confusion, product and price complexity, and the strategic design of markets.
He develops laboratory and field experiments to study how firms respond when consumers have limited attention or difficulty comparing products. This work examines spurious product differentiation, obfuscation, price discrimination, consumer policy, and competition.
Kenan received his PhD in Economics from Tilburg University in 2011. He was an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award fellow and a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford during 2017–2018.
His research has appeared in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Experimental Economics, the International Journal of Industrial Organization, and the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics.
